Edge of the Season Page 8
What if he told his mother?
She almost choked again.
But then Jake’s arm slipped around her waist. His scent and warmth surrounded her and she forgot thoughts of his mother or the future as she relaxed against him. He drew her close and kissed her temple. “Merry Christmas.”
She rubbed a finger over her ring before looking up at him. “Merry Christmas, my love.”

Acknowledgments
There are always so many people to thank when you’re writing a book. Friends who understand deadlines, writing buddies who encourage and commiserate, and family who love and support, as well as all the readers who make this solitary existence worthwhile.
I want to send some special thanks out to the following people.
Lincoln, thanks for naming the toy store!
Jen Blood, my fantastic editor. Thank you for squeezing me into your schedule!
My beta readers Krista and Tracy, you guys rock. And Tracy you make me feel like I’m a superstar. Love you both.
My husband, who managed to bring the girls and I to New York last winter, where we explored the magic of Christmas together in an amazing city.
But especially, I’d like to thank all the readers who have written me. Your kind words are truly why I do this. It is a pleasure and a thrill to know that you’ve enjoyed my work and that it takes you away for a little while.
